How to prepare for an overnight boarding stay

What to bring:

  • Food & treats: We do not provide food for our guests. Please provide enough of your dog’s normal food to last for their entire visit plus a couple of extra meals just in case you are delayed in picking up your dog for any reason. We can feed your dog up to 3 times a day. Bowls for food and water are provided so there is no need to bring bowls (if your dog uses a slow feeder, you are welcome to bring it). Please do not send any food or treats that your dog is not accustomed to eating as they could cause digestive upset.

  • Please prepare food into individual meals in order to help ensure accurate feeding amounts for your dog. Food can be divided up into individual meals using ziplock bags or small tupperware containers.

  • Medications & supplements: We can administer any medications and supplements your dog currently takes during their stay. The details for these will be confirmed during the check-in process.

  • Bedding: We provide our guests with cot style beds on which to sleep and relax. For this reason, we do not accept beds brought from home. However, we invite you to bring along a favorite blanket for your dog if desired. All blankets must be machine washable.

  • Toys: Toys are welcome however we request no “squeaky” toys. If your dog is a destroyer, please do not send stuffed toys.

  • Please beware of how much stuff you’re brining for your dog. We have limited space for belongings and need to accommodate many overnighters. Only pack as much as you can fit into on of our Blue Water Pet Care bags per dog. You should be provided with a bag after the first stay, but we are more than happy to replace lost or broken bags, just ask on of our staff members for a new bag at anytime.

  • Please be aware that for dogs that are newer to our facility, the unfamiliar smells and sounds may cause your dog to chew on their blankets or toys, even if they are not usually big chewers. If you are concerned that they may chew up or swallow an item that may cause health problems (upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea, blockages, etc.), please refrain from packing it.

X-mas Pics!

After a few years hiatus we are back offering our Christmas pictures this year! The price will be $40 for each picture and $10 for each additional dog in the same picture. You’ll receive a framed 5x7 and a digital copy. Each picture will most likely take a couple days to process and you’ll get your copy as soon as it’s available. Pictures will only be offered to our currently active clients, I am sorry for any inconvenience! Additionally, pictures must be added onto a reservation such as daycare, boarding, or grooming. We will not allow any dogs to come in for pictures only.

To schedule, please email us at info@bwpetcare.com . We will be limiting the number of pictures each day to allow for editing time. At this time, we will only be scheduling pictures up until this Friday, Dec 9th. There is a slight possibility we will schedule some next week, but that will be determined later. If you want to make sure to get a picture, please schedule it this week. Thanks!

Front Door Under Construction

Please be aware, our front entrance is getting a make over and will not be used for a few days. Directly to the right, we will be using our garage door for pickups and drop offs. We are still limiting contact, therefore clients will not enter into the building. Feel free to continue to use the parking spots in front of the temporary entrance, just make sure to leave enough room for others to get in and out safely. Call or text when you arrive, but as always we will be doing our best to watch for cars pulling in for drop off and pickup. Thanks for your understanding!

Update 7/9/2020

We are delighted to see so many of you come back after being shut down! We are slowly learning your needs and how to staff our facility properly to meet your expectations. Please see below for a few reminders and updates. Thanks so much!!

We’ve learned how helpful reservations are to us. Please continue to make reservations for any visits as far in advance as possible. If you have a regular weekly schedule we can set that up as an ongoing reservation for you, just ask one of our staff. We understand that last min things come up and we want to do our best to be here for you, so don’t hesitate to ask for last minute reservations when they come up. The more people making reservations, the better we will be at staffing properly, and then when those last min things come up we will be more prepared to add a few more. As a reminder, reservations can be made:

  • Email: info@bwpetcare.com

  • Text Message: 629-90

  • Phone: 810-364-3647

Daycare is now available EVERYDAY of the week!

Going forward, 10AM will remain the latest time for daycare drop-off’s. The staff and I really like this new time frame a lot. This allows us more time to focus on what’s important, our dogs! Additionally, 6PM will continue to be our latest pickup time for daycare and boarding dogs during the week. Below I’ve outlined our hours of operation.

Mon-Fri

  • Drop off for daycare: 6:30AM - 10AM

  • Drop off for overnight boarding: 6:30AM - 5PM

  • Pickup for boarding and daycare ends at: 6PM

Sat-Sun

  • Drop off and pickup for daycare and boarding: 9-10AM or 3-4PM. Any dogs not picked up after these strict time frames will be boarded overnight. Thanks for your understanding.

Thanks for taking time to read through all this and we appreciate your understanding all these changes! We will continue to navigated these times

Training Reminder

Here’s some quick info about our basic obedience training class

1. Dogs should all be current on all store required vaccines (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella). Please provide proof of vaccines via email to info@bwpetcare.com or fax: (810)202-8610. Or bring them on your first visit.

2. Dogs need to be on a standard 6 foot lead (leather or fabric, NOT CHAIN) Retractable leashes are prohibited

3. Bring treats, smelly are the best! (Its quality over quantity)

4. All training aids are welcome!!! (harness, head collar, prong collar, ect.)

5. Only 1 make up allowed per course (that is to be done 15 min prior to next class, and must be booked)

6. NO AGGRESSIVE DOGS OF ANY KIND! (Training instruction must be able to handle the dog)

Update 5/8

Starting Tuesday May 12th we will be re-open for daycare and day-boarding services! Basic grooming, can be added to daycare or day-boarding. Unfortunately, at this time we are prohibited by the state of Michigan to offer a grooming services unless a dog is currently in our care. We still do NOT have full grooming (haircuts) available.

We will be by appointment base only as we are running on a much smaller staff. Please make appointments at least 24 hours in advance and there will be a cap on the number of dogs each day so please book early. Currently, the absolute best way to book an appointment is using our online reservation system CLICK HERE, texting us at 629-90, or emailing info@bwpetcare.com. We won’t be available to answer the phones much as most of our focus must remain on the dogs but we will return calls as soon as possible.

Our lobby will remain closed and we will have a gated drop-off/pick-up area attached to the front door for safety and to maintain a 6 foot distance from clients. For pickup clients must text us at 629-90 with only the word “here” so our system will let us know you’ve arrived to pickup your dog.

Additionally, below you will see our adjusted days and hours of operation until we ease back into normal day to day life.

CLOSED: Saturday, Sunday, Monday

OPEN: Tuesday - Friday

Drop-off available 6:30am - 10:00am

Pickup ends 6:00pm

If you need overnight-boarding during the weekend, please contact us to set that up. Thanks

Update 4/13

Due to the extension of the stay-at-home order we will continue to remain closed until further notice. Unfortunately we will need to suspend all service including overnight boarding until this time as well. Please send an email for any reschedules, questions, or concerns. Thanks for your understanding during this time!

Update 3/23/2020

Due to the current stay-at-home order by Governor Whitmer, we believe discontinuing our daycare, training, and grooming services until 4/14/20 is at the best interest of our clients and staff. We are still offering overnight boarding, which must be scheduled in advance. Since we won’t be in the facility as much, reservations are best when made using our online reservation system or email info@bwpetcare.com

We hope to see everyone very soon! Thank you very much!

We are taking many different steps to do our part and still be able to safely provide services for our clients. Listed below are a few things that are currently in effect to do so.

      • Only one client in the gated area at a time

      • Our employee will use our own leash to escort your dog into the building.
